Bike Safety

Bike Safety

Today we had a bike safety day, a police man and a two more people came and taught us how to cycle safely. There was an obstacle course  it helped you with the hand signal corners and when you turn off and carry. I learned:

1 The signals left, right and stop.
To ride and signal at the same time.
3 To check my helmet properly

World War 1

ANZAC

For a few days Aylah, Emma and I (and the rest of the class have been making slide shows too,) have been collecting ANZAC facts and placing it in a slide show, I have learned:

1# 16 million animals that went to war that includes donkeys, horses, monkeys, cats, dogs and much more!

2# Did you know that a homing pigeon from France sent a message that saved 194 lives!

3# Caesar the dog was a hero because he saved 120 lives (as a redcross dog) he was also a little girls pet she was heartbroken when she heard the Caesar had died.

4# 100,000 New Zealanders went to war and approximately 1.1 million men came back!

5# 550 nurses from New Zealand went to the Great War and 12 died, 538 nurses came back from war.

The most interesting thing I have learned from someone else's slide is Coronal Malones trained the soldiers, he was a big boss and extremely srict. He died in 1916. His statue is in Strafford NZ.

I learned how to pronounce numbers properly like millions we did it with place value. We used place value to add the guns in World War One.

1 hundred years ago
Most men go "let's go"
This is going to be easy
But soldiers get a bit messy.

4 years past and the war died down
Some soldiers came home
But some were left alone
Poppies grew as we did too
Lest we forget.
