Me an my team mate nervously walked out to the pool ready for our turn. One, two, three go! My partner and I dived into the pool with a splash, we started synchronised swimming, we swam round the pool fast doing our amazing tricks. Both of us gave all our effort to win the gold medal. Our coach was screaming at us hoping that we would win.

My partner and I did all sorts of things like moving our hands to creat shapes and dancing. As we were starting to get cold and tired when horn went, BEEP! Both of us lowered our paws to the bottom of the pool and waited for the results, unfortunately we got silver but that didn't matter because joining the New Zealand team for the guinea pig games was all we ever wanted.

The Sea

The Sea

Shipwreck
Exploring
Divers

In the sea there are many shipwrecks people explore. Sometimes divers explore the shipwrecks to find valuble things that's hundreds of years old. Most shipwrecks were caused by crashing into rocks or when the ships slops side ways in huge storms. After hundreds of years after the shipwreck it grows moss and fish start living in it, then the shipwreck is a wonderful sight.

Learning To Paragraph

We are learning to write topic specific paragraphs.
First we brainstormed about the sea.
Next we grouped some words togther that related and mean the same thing.
The first sentence is about the topic and then add more information.

Crowley Cup Netball

                                      Crowley Cup

Today we played netball against Matapu for our last pool game for Crowley Cup! Both teams placed their hands in the middle and shouted TEAM!! Nicky blew the whistle and the rough game started. Our team were a bit rusty on the first half but on the second half our engines were running.

In the game most some of us had twisted ankles but we just played on. In the first quarter we were letting the other team push us around and steal the ball, but the third and last quarter we were all concentrating hard.

The whistle blew for the end of the game and we ran to our coach (Kim) she told us how great we had played and what we needed to work on for any netball. We had played fair and all had a great game. Both rugby and the netball team lost but both games were good games.

Crowley Cup Hockey

Crowley Cup

The whistle blew and I ran onto the field straight to the ball Thwack the ball went flying. The other teams had canceled so it was TOKO vs TOKO.

The game went for half an hour and there were a few slips and twisted ankles but we were still going after the ball. The score was 11- 9 to the non bibs. We all had a great game. We watched the rugby and netball until the games were finished then we went to the hall for an early morning tea.

Green-Gold Reflection

On the 7th of June we had to prove that we were an environmental school. Two people came and asked us some questions that a enviro school should have done. Here are what the classes do:
Room 1 did the litter free zone,
Room 2 did the lavender bags,
Room 3 the chickens,
Room 4 did the feijoas,
Room 5 are the enviro class and
Room 6 did the school banking.

We talked about what it means to be a Green-Gold, we are the first school in Taranaki to be a Green-Gold.

Bike Safety

Bike Safety

Today we had a bike safety day, a police man and a two more people came and taught us how to cycle safely. There was an obstacle course  it helped you with the hand signal corners and when you turn off and carry. I learned:

1 The signals left, right and stop.
To ride and signal at the same time.
3 To check my helmet properly

World War 1

ANZAC

For a few days Aylah, Emma and I (and the rest of the class have been making slide shows too,) have been collecting ANZAC facts and placing it in a slide show, I have learned:

1# 16 million animals that went to war that includes donkeys, horses, monkeys, cats, dogs and much more!

2# Did you know that a homing pigeon from France sent a message that saved 194 lives!

3# Caesar the dog was a hero because he saved 120 lives (as a redcross dog) he was also a little girls pet she was heartbroken when she heard the Caesar had died.

4# 100,000 New Zealanders went to war and approximately 1.1 million men came back!

5# 550 nurses from New Zealand went to the Great War and 12 died, 538 nurses came back from war.

The most interesting thing I have learned from someone else's slide is Coronal Malones trained the soldiers, he was a big boss and extremely srict. He died in 1916. His statue is in Strafford NZ.

I learned how to pronounce numbers properly like millions we did it with place value. We used place value to add the guns in World War One.

1 hundred years ago
Most men go "let's go"
This is going to be easy
But soldiers get a bit messy.

4 years past and the war died down
Some soldiers came home
But some were left alone
Poppies grew as we did too
Lest we forget.

Term 1 Evaluation

Term 1 Evaluation

The two things this term I have enjoyed is camp because the activities were incredible and challenging and I completed one of my goals 'walk across the catwalk without falling off.' The other thing I enjoyed was Beach ED because I like hanging around on the beach and splashing around in the water.

The thing I have least enjoyed this term is Athletics because sprinting is not really my thing and it's tiring. It was like an oven it was boiling!!

The thing I learnt this term is to not give up and to work as a team. I learnt how to do 8's 7's and 4 times tables.

Next term I would like to learn is why do cats get angry so quickly? I want to learn this because I love animals!

Marae

                                                                      Marae

As we arrived a man called Greg greeted us as we were strolling to the gate, he told us to be quiet, so a hush fell over us. I wonder how they carve the statues? Finally we were karangaed on, we slowly shuffled through the door we had to do something called a hongi*
Through the day we learnt about Maori culture, also we split into groups for activities such as flax weaving and learning legends.
This is what I had learnt:

1. Maori don't pronounce the 'h'
2. Moari only have 16 letters in the alphabet
3. Whakahururangi (the Marae) is the first Marae between Mt Taranaki and Mt Tongario!

I had an enjoyable and incredible day.

* A hongi is a Maori way to welcome visitors.

Athletics Day

Learning Itention:
To write about a meaningful event to me.
*4 sentences
*4 sentence startes
 *No banned words

Athletics Day

High jump.
"Ready when you are" Mrs Stark told me I started scurrying and then leap, over I go, could I do it, could I? Just as I landed on the spongy blue mat my foot knocked the pole!!Oh No but Mrs Stark told me to go again and that time I hurtled myself over. After about three rounds the chairs were taken for 1st 2nd and 3rd, I had come fourth I'm so so so proud of my self (I had a huge smile on my face.)

Emma: Next time you should use some more punctuation and exiting words.
I like the way you used the way scurrying instead of running and "I landed on the spongy blue mat". GREAT JOD:)

Aylah: Next time you could add a bit about what high jump is because some people may not know what it is. I like how you put scurrying and I like how you put how you were feeling.
good job Isabel

Courtney: I liked the way you used punctuation. Next time you should re read it.
I like the way you hooked the reader in.

Planting Beautiful Marigolds

Arriving at Pukeiti* was a beautiful sight, bushes and trees decorated with flowers. All I could hear is the the chirps of the birds and the chattering of the people around me as we strolled through the bush of Harakeke, ferns and native trees for our last activity. I was in a group named Ranganui. I could just spot a clearing it was really bright because in the bush the trees are blocking out the sun. As we strolled out into the clearing and I saw what looked like a hut.

"Hello and welcome everyone" a lady said "does anyone know what this seed is?" It was a Marigold.
She told us to come to a table to fold a pot each out of toilet rolls  then filled it with soil. She handed us the seeds and we planted them. After we had planted our Marigolds she told us how to look after it, water it every couple of days.

                     Facts:

1. Marigolds close when it's going to rain.
2. Marigolds close when it's dark and opened at day.
3. You can eat the flowers straight from the plant!

If we wanted we could try an eatable seed, to me it tasted like lemon. There was also a bean you could eat but I didn't want it. She showed us how to fold the top like an envelope. That was my favourite thing about the day.

*Pukeiti Gardens is a small sort of forest on the mountain. We had gone there last year. Its latest upgrade is a garden it still needs the plants. It is a beautiful place filled with bush and amazing nature.

Emma: Next time you should add some punctuation. I like how you hooked the reader in at the beginning, I also like how you said how the seed tasted.

Aylah: Next time you should more exciting words. I like how you put arriving at pukeiti it was a beautiful sight and fact's about marigold.
Great job Isabel

Pascoe: I like how you started your story, next time you should use some more punctuation, I like how you put some facts.
Yay

Summing Sports 2016

"Year 6 girls to marshaling area" I followed Emma nervously to the marshaling area and two ladies split us into groups I was in the B-'s. In that race I was the only girl from Toko School. I kept thinking about my first race, was I going to do a belly flop or not. I collected some advice from Emma for diving she said bend your knees and bend over.

On Your Marks...  Get Set...  HOOT! Splash! Sometimes I kept kicking on an angle, into the side of the lane and then back to the middle of the lane. Nearly there, PUFF, PAINT, nearly there, PUFF, PAINT.....  I did it for the first time!! Racing is not my thing, I came last it doesn't matter I gave it my best shot. That was freestyle. Next was backstroke.

Mum was going to go home she went past me and said goodbye but I told her the I was going to do backstroke so she stayed and watched my race. Me and Emma was in the same race I came last too, I was in lane five.

Emma: I think next time you should use some more descriptive words, I like how you said nearly there nearly there, and racing not my thing and I did it for the first time.

Aylah: next time maybe add more words that make it more exciting. I like how you put puff paint puff paint and racing is not my thing
Good work Isabel!

Heidi: I like the way you used PUFF PAINT PUFF PAINT next time you could double cheek your spelling I also liked how you used paragraphs.
