Speech Board

Something that I enjoyed about speech board this year was the drama and the telephone call. For the past years I have been doing poems for speech board but the Year 7 and 8’s  do dramas. The drama could be a fairy tale with twist, a myth or legend. My group (Aylah, Arnika and I) did a fairy tale with a twist (Jack and the Beanstalk.) The telephone call was quite cool because you are asked to leave a message or call someone. In this telephone call you had to use courtesy, we had to introduce ourselves appropriately and explain why you are calling. Our phone call was related to our informal speech.

Something I disliked about speech board this year was that we had to do four different things for speech board. We had to do an informal speech, a telephone call, a drama and also we had to read a passage (one hundred and fifty words) from a book. Also I disliked my speech because I kept forgetting things I was supposed to say. My speech was quite hard because ömine was about making lip balm. Something I would do differently is to include more research.

Something that I found interesting about my speech board was that the Year 7 and 8’s had to include research, for my speech it was hard to get anything interesting but I got who made the first lip balm, etc. The first lip balm was a wickless candle wrapped in tinfoil, and that the inventor of lip balm is Dr. Charles Browne Fleet. Frank Wright Jr  was a commercial artist,l he drew the CHET chapstick logo that is still in use today.

Next year I hope to do better than this year, also try and get distinction since next year is my last year of speech board.
